Outstanding Students at M.A.M.E.Pictured are a few of our outstanding students with their prizes. The dedication and commitment these students have shown to music is inspirational.
We are very proud of all our students. It really goes to show that hard work really does pay off. Our structured tuition and consistent feedback enable our students to play and perform to the highest standard, across all levels of experience. Yet Another Champion at MAMEAmy Kilroy, a young student here at the Academy was recently crowned Champion 2015-2016. After a lot of hard work, her dedication paid off with a huge win. She will hold the perpetual cup for an entire year before having to compete again to retain her championship.
We are extremely proud of A. Kilroy and indeed all of our students here at MAME. It is through our students' success that we succeed. We believe in our students and will provide them with everything we can, to ensure that they have the best chance of making their dreams come a reality. Congratulations to A. Kilroy. Facebook CompetitionWe ran a promotional competition through our Facebook page. The competition was for two tickets for the Garth Brooks Experience concert.
In order to enter the competition all the Facebook follower had to do was like our photo and our page. We had hundreds of entries and all the names were printed down and then pulled out of a hat. The lucky winner of the two tickets was Pat Boyle. Pat was very happy to win the competition and we hope he enjoyed the concert. We run competitions and give-aways through our social medical pages and it is usually very easy to enter your name to the draw or compete in our competitions. So, remember to keep following us on Facebook and Instagram to be in with a chance of winning. May In-House CompetitionsIt's that time of year again, the RIAM grade examinations are coming close and everyone at the Academy of Music is working around the clock to make sure everything goes brilliantly for our students on their exam day. It is fantastic to see how far all of you have come along, from the beginner grades up to the more advanced musicians, you are doing fantastic - keep up the good work! The winners of the first summer in-house competition were all posted on facebook along with photos of the musicians receiving their prizes. Well done to everyone involved. November In-House CompetitionThe overall winner of our in-house competition was decided upon careful deliberation of teachers and students. This competition took place during a grade prep class and was open to all students sitting their examinations this month. Our winner was Sarmite. Well done! She has one two tickets to see "The Stunning" in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar on December 27th. Well done to every single student who performed on the day, it's always great to see hard work pay off! All runner up prizes were awarded in lessons throughout the following week. The purpose of these competitions is not just to give students the chance to perform and showcase their talents or just as a preparation aid for exams but it also gives an opportunity for every student to realise that they are all part of a very unique team. We believe in you, and as a team we believe in each other. Together we can achieve great things! Congratulations again Sarmite and well done to absolutely everybody you was involved. |
Fundraising for Society of Saint Vincent De PaulMAME (Mayo Academy of Musical Excellence) have organised and produced many concerts and events to raise awareness and funds to give to the society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP). The goal of SVP can be summarised as "to fight poverty in all its forms through the practical assistance to people in need". The society offer personal assistance in a non-judgemental manner and base their services on the individual need of the person, group or family. They also provide a range of services for vulnerable people through active volunteering in local offices nationwide, shops, resource centres, housing, day-care and holiday schemes. For more information on SVP please visit their website using the button on the left. You can donate directly to SVP using the 'Donate to SVP Society button'. The concerts have always been a huge success for students as they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The main fundraising raffle will take place at the end of July. Raffle tickets can be bought directly from the Mayo Academy of Musical Excellence. Sport and MusicIs there a connection between music and sport? More often, we are seeing our young musicians excel in areas other than music. The association of cognitive development with exposure to music in childhood has been described time and time again. While it is still not yet fully understood why music can have such a profound impact for cognitive and psychological development, it has been determined that music has a positive impact on both of these physiological aspects of the person.
We would like to give recognition to our outstanding students who out-perform the competition in all aspects of every day life. Michaela Walsh is an example of one of our excellent students, who has represented Ireland many times for her sporting achievements. She has even successfully competed in the Olympics, winning in all of her categories. Michaela has become somewhat of a local celebrity and has managed to take everything in her stride. Check out her Wikipedia page here! We are extremely proud of Michaela and indeed all of our talented musicians. MAME staff, work together as a team with our students to ensure their success in music. We believe that through our structured approach and carefully planned tuition with appropriate feedback mechanisms, we can help to nurture a sense of discipline and determination. This allows our students to engage fully with whatever challenges come their way, and ultimately they will (and do) succeed. Annual Easter Colouring CompetitionThe Mayo Academy of Musical Excellence hold a colouring competition coming up to the Easter break. There are some fantastic prizes for the winners and the competition was open to everyone from Mayo - whether or not they were students of the Academy. We received huge amount of brilliant drawings and colourings and it was very difficult to choose a winner. After hours of deliberation and thought the appointed judges came to decide the winners under two categories i.e. under 8 and under 12 years of age. Please see the beautiful drawings below. It brightened up the Easter holiday a little bit more and we would like to give a big thank you to all the talented artists who sent in their master pieces. The talented winners were all pictured with their prizes on our Facebook page, make sure to check it out! More Fantastic Give-Away Draws! The Mayo Academy of Musical Excellence ran a promotional campaign during the summer months. We gave away musical instruments, accessories, free lessons and some other small prizes.
The winners of the prizes were determined through a lottery system. Pictured on the left of this page is M. Gallagher and his brother and sister. MG won the fantastic, brand new, semi-acoustic guitar - that we gave away free as part of our promotional campaign. This super guitar is compatible with almost any amplifier and comes complete with a built in auto-tuner. We fitted it with D'addario strings and presented Micki with a durable and stylish case, so the guitar can be safely stored and transported. The 'Guitar-Giveaway' promotion was open to absolutely everybody. We even had entry boxes located in local banks in an effort to ensure that everyone had a fair chance to win. Equality is so important to us. It unifies people. We want to help you, to be the best that you can be. We really hope that MG and all the other winners of prizes from our promotional campaign thoroughly enjoy their prizes. We appreciate all our support. |
